Casper William “Bill” Kecken Jr.

Past Chief

Casper William “Bill” Kecken, Jr age 92, of Springboro, Ohio and formerly of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Hillspring Health Care Center. He was born November 29, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of the late Casper and Anna (Jaworski) Kecken. Bill was a member of the Marlboro VFD and served for many years in various positions including Chief from 1955 to 1957, and formerly employed with Ken Dixon Chevrolet, where he was able to assist the department with the purchase of a new chiefs vehicle, in Maryland for 22 years and was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.  He was also an Army veteran who served in North Africa and Italy during World War II.  Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Gloria Kecken. Bill is survived by his son, Larry (Carol) Kecken; daughter, Linda (Salvador) Sylvester; sister, Claire Doyle; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.  The department was notified of his passing on January 19, 2015.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6696 Springboro Pike, Dayton. His final resting place is the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio
