Joseph E. Flynn was an early member and served as chief of the department from 1939 to 1943.  Records for this time frame are scarce, but an internet search revealed that he was born in 1912 and was laid to rest July 28, 1966, with his final resting pace being Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Cemetery
